Because He Lives + 30 Weeks

With Easter quickly approaching, a few of my most-loved hymns have been stuck in my head for the past few weeks. One of my absolute favorites, "Because He Lives" has a verse that holds extra meaning for me this year.

How sweet to hold a newborn baby
And feel the pride and joy He gives
But greater still, the calm  assurance
This child can face uncertain days because He lives
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives

One of the first worries I had when I first found out I was pregnant was the state of the world my little baby would be entering. Sins that were once black and white are now portrayed as gray areas, and those who speak up for truth and what is right are often ridiculed. Uncertain days? It has been promised that Sarah Parker and any of my other future children will face them. The line in this song, however, reminds me that the One who has defeated death is also the One who is in charge of those days and of those children. I pray that He gives them boldness to speak truth and stand firm even in uncertain times.
